Head of Primary's Message

From the Head of Primary

From the Head of Primary

Kindergarten Orientation Day was a wonderful highlight in Week 5 as we welcomed our 2026 cohort to the College. Our soon-to-be Kindergarten students spent the morning exploring their new learning spaces, engaging in classroom activities, meeting their teachers, and connecting with their future classmates. It was a joy to see their confidence grow as they experienced what Kindergarten will look and feel like next year.

While the children enjoyed their orientation program, more than 50 parents joined us in the HUB for our Parent Readiness Session. Families received an overview of a typical day in kindergarten, important information regarding wellbeing and child safety, and guidance on how we partner together to support early learning. Our school counsellor also shared valuable insights to help children navigate their first days of school with confidence.

This week has been an important step for our Year 6 students as they continued their Year 7 Transition Program. Over three full days in the Secondary School, students spent time becoming familiar with new routines, learning environments, specialist classrooms, and staff. Their enthusiasm was evident throughout, and the program has played a valuable role in supporting a smooth and confident transition as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.

Next Wednesday, 3 November, we look forward to celebrating two special milestones: our Prep Graduation at 9:00am and our Year 6 Graduation at 10:45am. We warmly invite parents and families to join us as we honour and support our students at the conclusion of their Primary years.

As we enter the final two weeks of the school year, we extend our sincere thanks for your ongoing partnership and support. We pray that God’s wisdom and grace continue to guide and strengthen our college community.

Year 9A Leads Gratitude Connect Time with 4JC

Year 9A Leads Gratitude Connect Time with 4JC

This week, our Year 9A students had the joy of leading Connect Time for Year 4JC, guiding their younger peers through a special Gratitude Christmas Tree activity. Together, the students explored the many things big and small they could be thankful for as the school year draws to a close.

Year 9 students paired up with Year 4s to chat about moments that made their year meaningful: friendships formed, challenges overcome, teachers who supported them, and experiences that brought joy. After these thoughtful conversations, the Year 4 students completed their own individual Gratitude Christmas Trees, filling them with colourful reflections of the many blessings they identified together.

It was heartwarming to watch our young people intentionally pause and recognise the positive aspects of their lives during this festive season. Their honesty, excitement, and kindness made the morning feel especially bright.

A huge thank you to Miss Cheng and the wonderful students of 4JC for welcoming Year 9A so warmly. What a gift it was to reflect together, encourage one another, and celebrate the many things we have to be grateful for.

🚂 Stage 1 Excursion – NSW Rail Museum 🚂
Stage 1 had a fantastic day at the NSW Rail Museum! Students took part in hands-on activities across four stations, exploring geography, history, maths, and science through all things trains.

A big highlight was the heritage train - lots of excitement and curious questions along the way!

Our students represented the school beautifully and had a wonderful learning adventure. 🌟

4GU Prize Money Spending

4GU Prize Money Spending

4GU chose to use part of their prize money to purchase new Health and Wellbeing books for our school library. The students wanted to give back in a way that would benefit others, and their thoughtful choice will support the learning and wellbeing of many students. We’re very proud of their generosity and the heart they’ve shown.

All My Own Work

All My Own Work

Year 10 have had an exciting and productive week, having now completed all their assessments for the year and successfully finishing the compulsory All My Own Work program, an essential requirement as they head towards the HSC. Today, students engaged in the four key AMOW modules, What is all my own work, Plagiarism, Acknowledging Sources and How can I work Honestly, which help prepare them for the academic expectations of senior school. Adding to the excitement, next week Year 10 will begin their two-week Work Experience program , where students will step out of their comfort zones, explore real workplaces, build confidence and independence, and gain valuable insight into future career pathways. The enthusiasm among students is high as they look forward to this meaningful learning opportunity beyond the classroom.

SPECIAL REPORT: Moving to a New School

Moving to a new school is a big deal! Your child is going to meet lots of new people and be thrown into new situations. That’s bound to make them feel lots of different emotions. They may feel worried and anxious, but also excited and happy – all at the same time!

It is considered to be one of the most important transition periods of a student’s life and can present some significant psychological challenges for both students and parents.

Making new friends, learning new routines, discovering new environments, accepting new cultures and adjusting to new learning practices is all part of the process. Some children will sail through this period of change, whilst others may need a bit more guidance. It is important to give your child the chance to feel comfortable in their new space. This may take a few months, but ensure you keep the lines of communication open and check in regularly with your child to see how they are settling in.

In this Special Report, parents and care givers will be presented with a number of strategies that can be deployed to help ensure a smooth transition.
