Belonging at Macarthur Adventist College
At Macarthur Adventist College, belonging is more than a word, it is something we live and experience together each day. As Scripture reminds us, “So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:5). Today in PCG Connect Time, our school community reflected deeply on the meaning of Harmony Day, a time to celebrate inclusiveness, respect and the rich diversity within our college. Through classroom discussions and shared activities, students were reminded that kindness, understanding and acceptance are essential in creating a place where everyone feels valued and connected.
This sense of unity was joyfully on display during our School Colour run this morning, which brought students, staff and families together in a vibrant celebration of fun and fellowship. Laughter, colour and encouragement filled the grounds as our community ran side by side, strengthening relationships and creating lasting memories. Events like these remind us that learning extends beyond the classroom and is enriched through shared experiences and meaningful connections.
At the same time, our community has come together in a more reflective and heartfelt way following the passing of former high school teacher Mr Peleti Peleti. His impact on students and colleagues alike has been remembered with gratitude and respect. In moments of loss, the true strength of our Macarthur family has been evident, as we support one another through prayer, compassion and shared remembrance.
Belonging at Macarthur Adventist College is found in both celebration and sorrow. In moments of joy, reflection and service. As a Christ‑centred community, we continue to walk together in faith, supporting one another with kindness, empathy and hope, knowing that every individual truly matters. You Belong at MAC!

A Life of Service Through Education
On Monday 16th March, we said farewell to Mr Peleti, a dedicated Science teacher who faithfully served at Macarthur Adventist College from 2018 to 2023. His contribution to education, and more importantly to the lives of young people, leaves a lasting legacy within our community.
Mr Peleti began his teaching journey in 2002 at Samoa Adventist College, where he served as a science teacher and later as Head of Department. From these early beginnings, his passion for education and commitment to service led him across the South Pacific.
He spent approximately nine years in American Samoa, including three years serving as a school principal. He then continued his teaching ministry in the Cook Islands, where he taught Mathematics and Science, before spending two years teaching in New Zealand. In 2018, he joined Macarthur Adventist College in Sydney, where he served faithfully for the next five years.
In total, Mr Peleti dedicated around two decades of his life to teaching and shaping young minds. His service spanned five countries and territories, each with its own unique education systems and communities. Yet wherever he went, he adapted with humility and remained steadfast in his commitment to his students.
When Mr Peleti arrived in New South Wales, he brought with him extensive experience and a Master’s degree. Despite this, he undertook the full teacher accreditation process required locally, something that can be challenging even for seasoned educators. Rather than being discouraged, he approached this with quiet determination, continuing to pursue his calling with dedication and grace.
Colleagues remember not only his professionalism, but the deep care he showed to his students.
Mrs Kumar, who worked closely with him, shared:
“His love for teaching was incredible, but even more beautiful was the connection he built with his students. Teaching didn’t end when the bell rang, he gave his time after school, patiently helping students with HSC Maths and even Chemistry. To many, he wasn’t just a teacher, but a mentor and guide.”
Mrs Calandra reflected on his character and faith:
“What stood out most was his love for God, evident in how he lived and spoke. He was respectful, kind, and always willing to help, whether assisting with technology at events or supporting colleagues. He was warm, approachable, and easy to talk to.”
Alongside his dedication, Mr Peleti also brought joy and humour to the school community. He is fondly remembered dressing up as Woody from Toy Story during a book parade, one of many small but meaningful moments that reflected his warmth and willingness to connect with students.
Mr Raj also shared:
“As a science teacher, he was hardworking and determined, always striving to achieve his goals and give his best in everything he did. He was also a fantastic science teacher who genuinely cared for his students. He always supported them, encouraged them, and wanted to see them succeed. His passion for teaching and his kindness toward others will always be remembered.”
At Macarthur Adventist College, our purpose is “To reveal Christ,” with a vision to be a Christ-centred learning community and a mission “to nurture all.” Mr Peleti exemplified these values in his daily work. Through his patience, generosity with his time, kindness toward others, and sincere faith, he revealed Christ in the way he taught and lived.
As Ellen G. White once wrote:
“The true teacher is not content with second-rate work…”
Mr Peleti embodied this ideal. He believed in his students and invested deeply in their growth, not only academically, but in character and faith.
Across Samoa, American Samoa, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, and Australia, countless students were impacted by his knowledge, care, and quiet dedication. His influence continues in the lives of those he taught and supported.
Mr Peleti’s life was one of faithful service. His legacy will endure in the many lives he shaped, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Zone Swimming Carnival
Zone Swimming Carnival
On 10/03/2026, Chalise, Tenisa; Edmonds, Matthew; Karki, Sameep; Singh, Giaah; Singh, Jaanvi; Steedman, Trisha; and Zezovski, Samantha represented MAC at the Zone Swimming Carnival, where they faced a challenging yet exciting day of competition. The weather conditions were far from ideal, making the events even more demanding, and although the results were not what they had hoped for, each student showed determination, resilience, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. They supported one another, persevered through the tough races, and should be commended for their effort, courage, and the positive way they represented the school.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Teddy Bears’ Picnic – Celebrating 30 Days of Learning
Today our Prep and Kindergarten students celebrated their first 30 days of learning with a very special Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Students brought along their favourite teddy bear and enjoyed a morning filled with fun activities and learning. Our Year 6 students did a wonderful job helping to run the activities and supporting the younger students throughout the morning.
Prep and Kindergarten students rotated through six different activity stations, where they practised some of the skills they have been learning in class.
At one station, students practised their phonics skills by sorting words that begin with the letters m, s and t. In the library, students listened to a teddy bear story and had fun searching for hidden teddy bears around the space.
Students also practised their number skills by going on a hunt around the classroom to find numbers 1–10. There was lots of laughter during the game “Pin the Bow Tie on the Teddy Bear,” which was a big hit with the students.
Another highlight was decorating cookies with their favourite toppings. Students also had the opportunity to practise their gross motor skills by taking part in running races with their teddy bears and playing games with the parachute.
After completing all the activities, Prep and Kindergarten students sat down together to enjoy a picnic lunch with their friends. As a special treat, students were also given popcorn, cookies and jelly.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate the students’ first 30 days of learning, while building friendships, practising new skills and creating joyful memories together. A big thank you to our Year 6 students for helping make the day so special.

Responding to Peer Pressure
Peer pressure is a natural part of growing up. As children and adolescents place greater importance on friendships and belonging, the influence of peers can shape their choices, behaviour and sense of identity. While this influence can be positive, it can also create pressure to conform or take risks, particularly during adolescence.
In today’s digitally connected world, peer pressure extends beyond face-to-face interactions. Social media and online communication expose young people to constant comparison and unspoken expectations about how they should look, act and perform. Understanding how peer pressure works, both on and offline, helps families support young people to build confidence, make healthy decisions and stay connected to their own values.
