Head of Primary's Message

From the Head of Primary
We are delighted to share some exciting news with our College community — construction of our new Primary playground is scheduled to commence during the upcoming Term 1 holiday break. After careful planning and preparation, we are thrilled to see this long-anticipated project about to begin.
This new playground has been thoughtfully designed to provide our students with a dynamic and engaging space that encourages imagination, creativity, active play and social connection. It will offer a welcoming environment where students can explore, build friendships and enjoy purposeful play in a safe and inspiring setting.
Construction will continue throughout Term 2 as the space takes shape, and we look forward to sharing progress photos with our community along the way.
We would like to sincerely thank our families for their support of last year’s Colour Run. The funds raised through this wonderful community event have made the playground build possible, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity and effort shown by our students and families.
In addition to the playground project, the College will be funding the installation of brand new, high-quality bubblers and drinking fountains across the Primary area. These will provide students with access to chilled water year-round and allow them to conveniently refill their water bottles throughout the day.
We are also excited to be hosting another Colour Run this year. Funds raised in 2026 will go towards the purchase of a wide variety of quality learning resources to be used throughout the Primary classrooms. Our vision is for every student to have access to engaging materials that spark curiosity, inspire creativity and cultivate a genuine love of learning.
Thank you once again for partnering with us to achieve meaningful improvements and lasting opportunities for our students. We value your continued support and look forward to sharing this exciting journey together.

Colour Run Fundraiser
Colour Run Fundraiser
Our Colour Run Fundraiser is off to a fantastic start, and it’s been so exciting to see our school community get behind it! Fundraising is going really well, with students showing great enthusiasm and teamwork as they work towards their goals for new quality resources for our classrooms.
To celebrate their efforts, we’ve already been able to reward students along the way. So far, we’ve given out ice blocks to both a primary and a secondary class, as well as two canteen vouchers. Last week, 5A topped the leaderboard with the highest fundraising total and earned the ultimate reward – the chance to slime Mr G! This was definitely not one to miss.
We’re so proud of the energy and generosity shown by our students and families, and we can’t wait to see what the coming weeks will bring as we continue towards the big Colour Run event on the 20th March! 🎉Keep an eye out on your class dojo accounts for the weekly challenges.

They allow teachers to deliver dynamic, engaging lessons using multimedia, interactive activities, and real-time collaboration. With built-in tools that support visual learning, creativity, and student participation, Commboxes help create a more interactive and effective classroom environment where students can engage more deeply with their learning.

SPECIAL REPORT: Discussing War & Conflict
With the recent escalation of conflict involving Iran, children may be hearing or seeing distressing updates through the 24-hour news cycle, social media and conversations at school. Even when events are geographically distant, repeated exposure to images, headlines and commentary can heighten anxiety, particularly for young people whose understanding of the world is still developing.
It is important for parents and caregivers to be mindful of overexposure, as constant coverage can amplify fear and uncertainty. Reassurance is key. Children need to feel safe and supported as they process complex global events.
Before beginning these conversations, take a moment to check in with your own emotions. Children often take their cues from the adults around them. Remaining calm, listening openly and offering reassurance can help your child regulate their feelings and maintain a sense of security.
This Special Report provides practical guidance to help families navigate conversations about war and conflict in a measured, age-appropriate way, while reinforcing hope, empathy and resilience. We encourage you to take a moment to review the information provided. If this topic raises concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please consider seeking appropriate medical or professional support.
